Dr Lucy Easthope, from the School of Life Sciences, has been invited to speak about planning for disasters in the UK at a humanitarian seminar.
The Humanitarian Assistance Seminar is being held on Thursday, 13th March at Police Headquarters in Enderby, Leicestershire.
Dr Easthope, Senior Lecturer, Mass Fatalities and Disaster Victim Identification, will talk about the importance of planning for disasters and the current challenges faced by the UK.
The aim of the seminar is to improve the understanding of Humanitarian Assistance and the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Local Resilience Forum Humanitarian Assistance Plan for those who may be called upon to take key roles in the event that the plan is activated.
Other guest speakers include Major Muriel McClenahan, Director UK Emergency and Red Shield Defence Service at The Salvation Army; David Sheard, Area Support Manager at Cumbria County Council and Sandy McMillan, Assistant Director, Strategy & Commissioning (Adults & Communities) at Leicestershire County Council.
